Working Remotely

[Originally published a few weeks ago]

I had an amazing, challenging training ride today. Gravel bikes are the current cycling craze. The geometry, dropper bar, and 2x drive train is akin to a road bike but the slightly relaxed frame is designed to accommodate wider gravel tires as shown in this photo. When I feel the need for road speed, I can quickly swap to a lighter 2nd carbon wheel set with thinner, super fast Continental Grand Prix racing tires. I try to alternate rides between a full suspension Carbon mountain bike and this gravel bike. I only need two bikes with everything set up tubeless. Well I guess there is always an excuse for just one more bike (an e-mountain bike for grueling climbs will be nice someday when I get old.)

The riding, hiking, caving, and climbing options near my home are incredible. This is all very important for creativity and productivity. This may explain why remote workers typically work longer hours and circles around thier entrapped office colleagues in large cities who have long commutes to/from the office, no time to exercise, become overweight and are frequently depressed with no quality of life. They spend all of their bicycle money on the large city cost of living. There is a better way.

I am blessed to live, work, and play in an incredible place.
